Just a 5-10 minute stroll into the main town centre with its excellent shopping, fabulous restaurants and bars. Situated in a sought after quiet area of Karagozlar in Fethiye. There is a handy local bus (Dolmus) stop nearby with connections to Fethiye town centre and surrounding areas such as Hisaronu which is great especially at night for its endless array of bars and restaurants and Olu Deniz for its fabulous sandy beach and its impressive "Blue Lagoon"
Large open plan lounge/diner with glass wall to one end with double doors onto sun terrace which over looks the lovely swimming pool and sun deck. The features two quality, comfortable sofas, large colour TV, DVD player and selection of DVD films and books. There is a dining table and chairs and an outside dining table set. The apartment has crockery for both inside and outside dining. The smart modern kitchen offer a combination oven/microwave/grill & 4 gas burner hob. There is a large fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and juicer. The large outside terrace also features a large barbecue. All the large double size bedrooms offer private en-suite, shower & wc, with the master bedroom also offering a Jacuzzi bath. The master bedroom also offer a terrace with stunning views of the Karagozlar bay and marina. There is a lovely swimming pool with sun deck with sunbeds and chairs.
The Mediterranean Coast of Turkey is stunning, with dramatic mountains falling into crystal clear blue waters and sweeping sandy beaches and cragy rocky inlets. A holiday in this wonderful area around Fethiye and Olu Deniz is probably the best area based as the scenery is simply at its best.
Information about: FETHIYE
Fethiye is steeped in history with ancient Lycian and Roman sites. The Lycian civilisation left it's mark as carved rock tombs in Fethiye's cliffs and in the centre of town you can see the Roman Amphitheatre. Nearby the ghost town of Kaya Koy which was once home to the Greeks lays empty and is well worth a visit.
The lovely Marina and water front area a hive of activity with sleek yachts, traditional Turkish Gulets and pleasure craft that mingle in Fethiye and around the 12 Islands of the bay.
Tuesday see's the bustling weekly street market where the area's fresh produce can be seen in all its colourful glory. Of-course there are the stalls catering for the tourist with their "genuine" fake designer fashion clothes, leather items, lace and all the usual items but what is really nice is to sit under the shade of open air caf'e tent with a cool drink or a traditional Turkish coffee and just people watch! You will see the throng of tourist bargain hunters and the locals alike, all going about their morning at the large street market. As for me I'm off to get my beautiful vegetables and some fruit for my lunch at my holiday apartment, Marina View Apartment in Karagozlar.
Another fresh produce market is located in the fish market in the centre of Fethiye. There you will see a range of both small and large sea and fresh water fish and seafood. A great tip is to buy some fresh fish from a stall holder and then ask one of the restaurants that fringe the fish market to prepare and cook it for you. The restaurants will do this, simply ask them how much to do this before you buy your fish and then sit back and watch them prepare it, cook it and serve with the usual salad and potatoes.
The nearby of bay area of Karagozlar has an interesting and traditional boat building yard where parked up are nearly completed and finish traditional wooden Turkish (Gulets) boats. It is very interesting to see the various components, wooden hulls and sails that make up these very lovely ships. Karagozlar is a short walk from Palm Island along the Fethiye waterfront.
The nearby beach of Olu Deniz is very famous as it is probably the most photographed beach in Turkey if not Europe. The beach can be seen in many of travel brochures and adverts for Turkey holidays. It's famous "Blue Lagoon" where the waters for bathing are absolutely beautiful. Olu Deniz is a short hop away by the Dolmus bus from Fehtiye.
Eating out in Fethiye can be a lovely experience. There are restaurants that offer traditional Turkish and International cuisine using fresh locally produce and ingredients. Many restaurants offer a simple tourist menu that is really inexpensive where you will find tourists and locals alike. You can dine alfresco or in an intimate dining room, from a street location to a fabulous marina view. The waterfront area and around Palm Island in Karagozlar 1, there are many fine restaurants like The Arena with it's stunning balcony terrace which offer fabulous views and fine dining. The Park Restaurant on the waterfront is great for a simple coffee stop or a waterside evening meal. The Megri with it's street location set under a cooling pergola of vines and leaves offers everything from a traditional simple Turkish lunch like oven baked meat balls and salad through to fresh seafood that you can select be dining. So go and explore, experiment a little, ask the locals and ask passing tourist where they eat, as for me, I can only recommend as I find, but remember places do change and whilst I enjoyed all the above you will have to make up your own mind. Weekly rates for 2008 are based on 4/ 6 people. Property can cater maximum of 8 people with large double sofa bed and a baby cot, also available. Additional per person prices are £50 per person per week July to September and £30 per person a week at all other times.
